American golfer Kevin Kisner currently sits atop the leaderboard of this year’s PGA Championship, following a fantastic first round score of 67 (-4). Kisner shared the lead with Thorbjorn Olesen at Quail Hollow yesterday, but has since pulled away from the Dane, with a series of sublime birdies.
Here is the current leaderboard:
1. Kevin Kisner: -6 (7)
2. Thorbjorn Olesen: -4 (-)
T3. Rickie Fowler: -3 (8)
T3. D.A. Points: -3 (7)
T3. Jordan Smith: -3 (5)
T3. Brooks Koepka: -3 (-)
T3. Chris Stroud: -3 (-)
Rory McIlroy got off to a great start yesterday carding 3 birdies in 4 holes, but once again struggled to maintain composure, bogeying the 13th before a double bogey on the 14th. Grand Slam hopeful Jordan Spieth is currently T28 at +1, following a day of missed opportunities, and British youngster Jordan Smith sits T9 (-2) after a fantastic first round.
McIlroy said of his first round performance: “It would have been nice to shoot under par but I played a three-hole stretch on the back nine three over par. That was the only thing that derailed my round.”
