Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could face a lengthy period on the sidelines, after limping off just 19 minutes into last night’s Champions League opener. United are yet to confirm the extent of the Frenchman’s injury; however, due to the nature of his exit last night, many suspect that Pogba may have a problem with his hamstring.
Jose Mourinho’s side gave a solid performance last night in their first Champions League game since the 2015/16 season. The Red Devil’s earned a convincing 3-0 victory over Swiss side FC Basel, thanks to goals from Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku, and Marcus Rashford, but the focus was undoubtedly on Pogba’s early exit.
With a hectic schedule ahead of them, United will be hoping Pogba can make a swift recovery. Jose Mourinho said: “I don’t know (what the severity is). I just know from experience it’s a muscular injury.
“In my experience, muscular injury stops you from playing for a few weeks, I think. It looks for me too (like a hamstring injury) but I haven’t spoken yet to the medical department.”
Man United are set to take on Everton this Sunday (Sept 17).
