Alexis Sanchez has returned to London to participate in training sessions with his Arsenal teammates, following an extended period of absence. The Chile international has been linked with moves to a number of top clubs this summer, including PSG and Manchester City.
Sanchez was all smiles in a picture posted by Arsenal’s official twitter account yesterday. The 28-year-old was expected to return to team training last weekend, but was granted extended leave due to illness. Arsene Wenger has claimed that Sanchez will honour the final year of his current contract with the club; however, the general feeling amongst Arsenal fans is one of uncertainty.
When asked about Sanchez’s supposed ‘illness’, Wenger replied: “Your job is to be suspicious and is built on mistrust and my job is built on trust! That’s why I prefer my side [of the story].”
Wenger’s outlook may be one of optimism, but the fact remains – Sanchez has still not put pen to paper on a contract extension, and things are not looking great for the Gunners coming into the new season.
