Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia has confirmed that he will feature at this year’s British Masters tournament in September. The 37-year-old has enjoyed huge success in 2017, winning his first major at the Masters back in April.
After his magnificent performance at the Augusta National earlier this year, Sergio Garcia has played nearly every subsequent event with a smile on his face. The Spaniard has not featured at a British Masters tournament since 2008, but revealed that this years host Lee Westwood had little to do to convince him to participate.
Sergio said: “It’s going to be great. Lee came to play our charity event last year in Switzerland, Sergio and Friends, so he made a great effort to come over there right after The Open Championship.”
“He asked me if I would do the same thing for him for the British Masters and obviously he is a good friend of mine, so I said yes.”
The British Masters will take place at Close House in Newcastle between Thursday 28th September and Sunday 1st October.
